Flambouri, Athens

Driving out to Parnitha you will see, to the west of the Liagkos Rock and the east of the cable car, the imposing cliffs of Flabouri, lined up on the right side of the Hounis valley - making it an attractively situated and accessible escape from Athens. There are three distinct cliffs here: upper and lower Flabouri, and the lower tower. Lower Flabouri is the easiest to get to, needing only a 30-40 walk uphill from the last and the highest houses of Thrakemakethones, following the road that goes past the turning for the Liagkos Rock. The routes here are in the region of 100m; the rock is generally, but not entirely, sound; and, unlike the other two cliffs, there is a smattering of bolts to boost the confidence of those unfamiliar to the area. The best-protected route on the most reliable rock is the Klassiki route which follows the prominent ridge beginning from the obvious triangular platform at the base of the cliff.
